Soccer – Moyes earns Kirchhoff backing

German midfielder Jan Kirchhoff believes Sunderland have made a good choice by appointing David Moyes as their new manager this summer. The Black Cats, who are 5/2 with bet365 to be relegated, lost former boss Sam Allardyce to England following the European Championships, with Moyes soon drafted in as his replacement. And Kirchhoff, who impressed following his arrival on Wearside from Bayern Munich in January, is happy with the way Moyes has started his tenure at the Stadium of Light. He told the Chronicle: "We try to be really organised on the pitch, having really clear ways of defending, ways of movement with and without the ball. "Try to play to the final third, stay in the final third as often as we can and try and create and finish our chances. "Control the game defensively and go forward as fast as we can. In the main it is quite the same, but in details and organisation and the formation there are slight differences."
