Soccer – Gabriel injury adds to Arsenal’s woes

Arsene Wenger is unsure how badly Gabriel is injured after the central defender had to be stretchered off the pitch in the closing stages of Arsenal's 3-2 pre-season victory against Manchester City. It is the latest piece of bad news for the Gunners boss who could be forced to use Calum Chambers and summer signing Rob Holding in central defence on Sunday for the Premier League clash against Liverpool. Per Mertesacker is sidelined while Laurent Koscielny has only just started pre-season training after being given an extended break following his exploits for France at Euro 2016. The Gunners are 9/4 with bet365 to keep a clean sheet against Liverpool, while Alexis Sanchez is 10/11 to be their top scorer this term. "Let's hope we have good news from Gabriel," said Wenger. "He's in pain. It's an ankle sprain. The only thing we have to know now is how big the damage is with his ligament."
