Soccer – Brazil without Neymar for Copa America

Neymar will miss Brazil's Copa America campaign on home soil after suffering ruptured ankle ligaments in the 2-0 friendly win against Qatar on Wednesday. The 27-year-old, who had worked his way back to fitness after missing the end of Paris Saint-Germain's Ligue 1 season because of a metatarsal injury, was hurt in a hard tackle early in the game before limping off in the 20th minute. Goals from Richarlison and Gabriel Jesus sealed the win for Brazil and the nation's football federation later confirmed that Neymar had suffered a ligament rupture in the ankle. The statement added: "Due to the seriousness of the injury, Neymar will not have the physical conditions and sufficient recovery time to participate in the Copa America Brasil 2019." Brazil, who are 11/8 with Bet365 to win the Copa America without Neymar, kick off the tournament on 14th June 14 against Bolivia.
