Rugby League – Smith ready for Rovers battle

New boss Tony Smith is confident that he can help Hull KR turn around a season which sees them battling to avoid relegation from Super League. Rovers stand in 11th place in the standings following a run of six losses in their last seven league games, while they were beaten 28-22 by Warrington in the last eight of the Challenge Cup last time out. The 52-year-old Smith has previously coached the likes of Huddersfield Giants, Leeds and Warrington, winning the Super League Grand Final and the Challenge Cup during his time in charge of both the Rhinos and the Wolves. He told his new club's official website: "With the talent available, there's a good, strong chance of climbing the ladder to a place which is far greater to where we are at this moment. "I want to get the boys in a position where they're proud of what they're producing and I think we can do that quickly." Rovers are back in action on Sunday when they host the Wigan Warriors, with a home win priced at 7/4 with bet365 and a Wigan victory 4/9.
