Horse Racing – Dettori pleased to be on Circus Maximus

Frankie Dettori, who will ride Circus Maximus in the Epsom Derby, thinks Saturday's race is wide open. The Italian has been snapped up by trainer Aidan O'Brien to partner the Dee Stakes winner in the big race. Dettori has won the Derby twice - on Authorized in 2007 and Golden Horn eight years later. He said: "I have picked up a spare ride on Circus Maximus in the Derby. He looks like a horse who is a bit lazy. He's never going to be flash. "The race looks wide open. You can make a case about most of the runners - but I am pleased with mine, who will most definitely stay the trip." Circus Maximus is 16/1 with bet365 to win the Derby while Sir Dragonet is currently 5/2.
