Zonderland takes advantage of Massaat flop to win Sovereign Stakes

• Clive Cox-trained colt makes up for Deauville defeat with Group-race win
• Owen Burrows at a loss after seeing favourite fold up from two furlongs out

Second in the Guineas and fancied by some for the Derby, Massaat became one of the great disappointments of this Flat season when tailed off last here in a Group Three contest for which he had started odds-on. The outcome was a blow to Owen Burrows, the first-year trainer for whom the colt has been a standard-bearer, who was both upset and perplexed by the manner in which Massaat folded up from two furlongs out.
