Young excited by Leinster finale

January 18, 2015 10:51:33 UK

Wasps director of rugby Dai Young is relishing a home showdown with Leinster next weekend, with top spot in European Champions Cup Pool 2 on the line.

The former Wales prop was speaking after seeing his side clinch a 23-3 victory at Aviva Premiership rivals Harlequins to take second place in the group.

I’m sure it’s going to be a fantastic occasion and the boys are already really excited about it.

And the win also set up a crunch clash with Leinster at the Ricoh Arena next Saturday, with Young excited by the prospect of challenging for a place in the knockout stages of the Champions Cup.

He said: “We’ve got a huge battle ahead of us against Leinster, who have had such success and a strong tradition in Europe.

“But we’re looking forward to welcoming them to the Ricoh Arena next Saturday and I’m sure it’s going to be a fantastic occasion and the boys are already really excited about it.

“It’s a nice place for us to be, going into the last round with a realistic chance of going through.”

Leinster will head to England in fine fettle, having run in seven tries in a 50-8 victory over Castres on Saturday.

The Irishmen are 13.00 to win the European Champions Cup this season, with Wasps 26.00 and Northampton Saints 6.00.
