Wildcats visit Southern California

The Arizona Wildcats take their 15-0 record, and top ranking in the AP Top 25 poll, for a spin to Southern California this week when they play the UCLA Bruins and USC Trojans.

As anticipated the Wildcats had something of a struggle against the Washington Huskies on Saturday, overcoming a half-time deficit to eventually run out 71-62 winners.

Nick Johnson and Aaron Gordon led the way once more for Arizona combining for 42 points on the afternoon at the McKale Center in Tucson.

The Pac-12 appears to be the deepest league in the country this season from top to bottom with only the Washington State Cougars expected to truly struggle as evidenced by their 60-25 rout at the hands of the Wildcats two nights earlier.

Syracuse, 17.00 to win the NCAAB Championship outright, remain No. 2 in the nation after opening ACC play with a 49-44 victory over the visiting Miami Hurricanes at the Carrier Dome.

The Orange play Virginia Tech at the Cassell Coliseum in Blacksburg on Tuesday evening before hosting North Carolina over the weekend.

Roy Williams’ side fell to Wake Forest in their conference opener and yet the Tar Heels have already beaten Michigan State, Louisville and Kentucky, 4.50, to win the NCAAB Championship outright, this season and Syracuse will do well not to overlook the visitors.

While Arizona and Syracuse turned back spirited challenges in conference play, the Ohio State Buckeyes eased past Purdue and Nebraska with little fanfare. On Tuesday however the Buckeyes travel to East Lansing to play Michigan State in a top five match-up against the Spartans.
