Wayne Rooney said on Monday he did not view Everton as a “retirement home” but had returned to win trophies and with the ambition of forcing his way back into the England squad.

Rooney rejoined his boyhood club from Manchester United on Sunday and the 31-year-old trained with his new team-mates for the first time on Monday.
