Wane desperate to win silverware

Wigan Warriors head coach Shaun Wane is desperate to make up for a disappointing 2014 by guiding his club to silverware in the coming campaign.

The Warriors failed to add to their roll of honour last season, losing in the World Club Challenge and the Super League Grand Final, while also crashing out at the quarter-final stage of the Challenge Cup.

And Wane has called his players in for extra training over the festive period to try and get things right, saying: “I’m not doing it to be unfair, I’m doing it because it will help the players.

“Everyone is upset about last year because it was a poor season by our standards, but it probably didn’t hurt the players as much as it hurt me. I was pretty devastated.

“It will be reminded to the players throughout the season because we don’t want another season like the last one.

“A club as famous as ours needs to win things. I can see, from the intensity of the training, that the players want that.”

Wigan can be backed at 3.75 to win the Super League Grand Final in 2015 and are 4.50 to lift the Challenge Cup.
