Transfer roundup: Crystal Palace close in on signing of Getafe’s Vicente Guaita

Crystal Palace are closing in on the signing of Vicente Guaita from Getafe, with the goalkeeper’s expected arrival to begin what could be a busy month of recruitment for Roy Hodgson’s side.

The former England manager is on the lookout for several new faces in the January transfer window after a series of injuries over the Christmas period left his squad seriously depleted. Having alternated between Julián Speroni and Wayne Hennessey in goal this season, 30-year-old Guaita has been identified as Palace’s main target and they are increasingly confident of signing him having held talks with Getafe this week to discuss an initial fee in the region of £3.5m, with additions should they avoid relegation this season.
