Terry urges Chelsea to respond

Chelsea captain John Terry is confident that his side will react strongly to seeing an eight-point lead at the top of the Premier League disappear.

The Blues have dropped eight points in their last six games to allow Manchester City to draw level with them at the summit, but, far from being disheartened, Terry is determined to help get his side back on track.

We’ll come together, put a run together and hopefully get a lead again.

He told his club’s official website: “It’s hard to see them claw us back. We were eight points in front and now we’re level on points.

“It’s disappointing to have lost that lead, but we said in the dressing room we’ll come together, put a run together and hopefully get a lead again.”

While Chelsea have faltered, reigning champions City have won eight of their last nine league games, with their only dropped points coming in a 2-2 draw at home to Burnley.

Meanwhile, the Blues have been beaten by both Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur and held to a 1-1 draw at Southampton.

Chelsea are now 1.66 to win the Premier League title this season, with the Citizens 2.50.

Both sides get a break from Premier League action this weekend as the FA Cup third round takes place, with Chelsea at home to Watford on Sunday, while City play host to Sheffield Wednesday on the same day.

Chelsea have won the trophy in four of the previous eight seasons, while the Citizens defeated Stoke City in the May 2011 final, before losing by the same scoreline to Wigan Athletic two years later.

The Londoners are 6.00 to win the FA Cup for the eighth time this season, with City 6.50 to lift the trophy for a sixth time.
