Tennis – Zverev close to cracking Nadal

Alexander Zverev believes he is close to discovering the secret to beating Rafael Nadal on clay, despite having been beaten by the Spaniard in the final of the Italian Open. The German lost out 6-1 1-6 6-3 in Rome, missing out after being a break of serve up in the final set when rain intervened. However, Zverev was not too downhearted with seeing an opportunity to lay down a pre-French Open marker go begging, having recently claimed the titles at the both the BMW Open in Munich and the Madrid Masters. He told the official ATP Tour website: "I was not far away from beating Rafa on a clay court in a Masters final. "I found the way (in the middle of the match), I felt like I had control over most of the points, that is very important against him on clay." Zverev, who has yet to make it past the fourth round of any Grand Slam, is 7/1 with bet365 to win the French Open.
