Tennis – Nadal ignores rankings target

Rafael Nadal says he will put the opportunity to return to the top of the world rankings to the back of his mind as he readies himself for action at the Rogers Cup in Montreal. Nadal needs to reach the semi-finals in Canada to overtake Andy Murray at the summit, but the Spaniard says he will maintain a short-term focus of ensuring that he prepares in the best possible way for his opening match against either Borna Coric or Mikhail Youzhny. The 2005, 2008 and 2013 Rogers Cup winner told the official ATP Tour website: "I don't even think about that now. I'm trying to have the right preparation now and that's it. "I'm going to keep trying to play the way I did in the first part of the season, so if I'm able to make that happen, I hope to have a chance to do well." Ten-time French Open champion Nadal is priced at 10/3 with bet365 to win the Rogers Cup for a fourth time.
