Spurs needs more depth to challenge for title – Pochettino

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino says his squad needs "more depth" to challenge for the Premier League title.

Spurs are unbeaten in their first nine league games, but Saturday's stalemate at Bournemouth was their fourth draw.

They are fourth in the table but a win would have sent them top ahead of Manchester City and Arsenal - temporarily at least.

"We missed a bit of freshness that you need in the first 15 minutes," said Pochettino.

Tottenham have used 26 players in all competitions this season, while north-London rivals the Gunners are top of that list with 30 and City second with 29.

Argentine boss Pochettino made two changes to the side that drew 0-0 against Bayer Leverkusen in the Champions League on Tuesday, including forward Vincent Janssen - who has scored just once this season - dropping to the bench.

Midfielder Moussa Sissoko and winger Georges-Kevin N'Koudou, summer signings along with Janssen, have failed to find the net at all.

"If we want to be contenders, we need to win games like these," Pochettino added.

"We were much better than them in the second half but you have to score if you want to win the game.

"Maybe we need more depth in the squad to avoid a situation like the first 15 minutes."
