Soccer – Maddison aims to make his mark

Midfielder James Maddison is hoping to make his England debut in the coming days, but is taking nothing for granted while on international duty. The 22-year-old Leicester City playmaker has made an impressive start to the new season with the Foxes and has been included in an England squad for the third time, with the Three Lions preparing for European Championship qualifiers against the Czech Republic and Bulgaria. However, he has yet to make his international bow and accepts that he will have to wait for his chance to impress, although Maddison says he will be ready if and when the opportunity arrives. He told BBC Radio 5 Live: "I'm not naive enough to sit here and say I should be playing. If that opportunity does come I will be ready, more than ready. "I keep realistic, but keep hungry to get minutes because that's why I'm here. I'm not here to just make up the numbers." First up for England is a Friday evening clash with the Czechs in Prague, with the visitors 9/20 with bet365 to win the game.
