Soccer – Giggs fires Wales warning

Wales head coach Ryan Giggs has told his players that they have to shape up if they are to compete with top-class teams, having seen his charges thrashed 4-1 by Spain. Giggs has now got to try and raise morale in the Welsh camp for the Nations league clash with the Republic of Ireland on Tuesday evening, with star forward Gareth Bale likely to miss out again due to a leg injury. "We came up against a very good team," Giggs told reporters, with his side now 9/4 with bet365 to top their Nations League group, which also includes Denmark. "They are comfortable on the ball and when they lost it they got it back quickly - all the things we knew. "The disappointing thing for me was not doing the basics. In football you have to do the basics right, even if you come up against an average team. "But when you come up against a really good team and don't do the basics right, you're in trouble."
