Soccer – Devastated Besic faces long lay-off

Everton midfielder Muhamed Besic has confirmed that he will not be able to play again until February because of a knee injury. The 23-year-old Bosnia-Herzegovina international had to be replaced just 11 minutes after coming on as a second-half substitute in Wayne Rooney's testimonial between Manchester United and the Toffees on Wednesday. A brief message on Besic's official Twitter account read: "6 months out! #devastated." A series of injuries have restricted Besic to just 22 Premier League starts in the last two seasons. Everton get the new Premier League season underway with a home game against Tottenham on 13th August. They are 11/1 with bet365 to beat Spurs 2-1 while Ross Barkley is 7/1 to be their top scorer this term.
