Soccer – Barkley tipping England to be the best

Ross Barkley claims England are "on the right path" to become the best team in the world after their 5-1 Euro 2020 Group A qualification win in Montenegro on Monday. The Chelsea star played a key role in the come-from-behind win in Podgorica as he scored a brace and chipped in with an assist, while Michael Keane, Raheem Sterling and Harry Kane were also on target. The victory came on the back of a 5-0 thrashing of Czech Republic at Wembley on Friday as Gareth Southgate's men sit on a maximum six points at the top of the group. The impressive start to their qualification campaign has followed the Three Lions' run to the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup and reaching this summer's UEFA Nations League finals, which the side are 7/4 to win with bet365. And Barkley firmly believes the future "looks bright" for the England team. He added: "There's bound to be expectation after the World Cup - it was unbelievable. We've come back and kicked on. We can still improve - our target is to be the best country in the world and we're on the right path."
