Soccer – Another injury blow for Gbamin

Everton, 20/1 with bet365 to finish in the Top 6, have confirmed that their Ivory Coast midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin is set for another long spell on the sidelines after suffering a serious Achilles injury in training. The 24-year-ol joined the Toffees last summer in a £25million move from Bundesliga club Mainz, having been identified as a replacement for PSG-bound Idrissa Gueye. His competitive Everton debut came as a half-time substitute in a goalless draw at Crystal Palace on 10th August and he made his first start in a 1-0 home victory over Watford a week later. However, Gbamin's Goodison Park career was halted by a thigh injury that required two operations and this week he suffered a further setback in what the club described as a "non-contact situation" at their Finch Farm training base. An Everton statement on Gbamin's injury said: "Everyone at the club is devastated for JP and we will ensure he gets all the support he needs throughout this challenging time."
