Soccer – Allardyce keen to land Walcott

Everton manager Sam Allardyce hopes he can persuade Theo Walcott to leave Arsenal and move to Goodison Park on a permanent basis this month. The 28-year-old, who has scored 65 goals in 269 Premier League matches for the Gunners since moving to the capital from Southampton almost 12 years ago, has only made five substitute appearances in the top-flight this season. Allardyce has already signed striker Cenk Tosun from Besitkas for £27million this month but remains interested in landing Walcott. The Everton boss said: "It's not imminent but negotiations are going on. His pace is a key strength which we lack. To add goals would be very important for me and he's only 28." Everton play Tottenham at Wembley on Saturday evening and can be backed at 12/1 with bet365 to win the match while Tosun is 9/2 to score at any time in the game.
