Soccer – Adkins replaces Slutsky at Hull

Hull City have named Nigel Adkins as their new head coach, handing the former Southampton boss an 18-month contract. The 52-year-old guided Scunthorpe United to the Championship before leading Saints to back-to-back promotions as they returned to the Premier League in 2012. He was surprisingly sacked by Southampton in January 2013, before going on to have unsuccessful spells in charge of Reading and Sheffield United. Adkins replaces Leonid Slutsky, who left the club by mutual consent after the 2-2 draw with Sheffield Wednesday last weekend. Hull are 13/2 with bet365 to be relegated from the Championship this term and 2/1 to beat Brentford on Saturday.
