Snooker – O’Sullivan shrugs off greatest talk

Ronnie O'Sullivan equalled the record of six UK Championship title wins on Sunday but was quick to play down suggestions that he is one of snooker's 'greatest' players. Former star Steve Davis gave the 42-year-old that tag after watching him join him on six UK wins courtesy of a 10-5 victory in the final against Shaun Murphy in York. In addition to matching Davis' record, O'Sullivan also moved level with Stephen Hendry on 18 'Triple Crown' wins - a combination of the UK and World Championships, and Masters. But the five-time world champion, who is 5/2 to retain his Masters title next month, refused to blow his own trumpet afterwards. O'Sullivan said: "I could never say: 'I am the greatest.' That is not in my personality. I am just pleased I put in some great performances over the years."
