Gerard Beale has been allowed to leave the Dragons for the Sharks.

St George Illawarra have completed the signing of Dane Nielsen from the Warriors, while releasing two players to the Cronulla Sharks.

Outside backs Gerard Beale and Kyle Stanley have been allowed to leave the Dragons as they look to relieve salary cap pressure.

Arriving at the Dragons is former Warriors centre Nielsen on a two-year deal.

Beale was unable to reach his potential in two injury-plagued years with St George Illawarra, while Stanley has seen his career threatened by four serious knee injuries.

Beale, 24, has joined Cronulla on a three-year deal, with 23-year-old Stanley signing for one year. The Sharks are 26.00 win the 2015 grand final.

“The Sharks are a club on the rise and I’m excited about this opportunity to play with them over the next three seasons, said Beale. “Add to that I’ve been living in the area for a little while now, my family is happy and settled and I’m really looking forward to the next few years.”

Cronulla coach Shane Flanagan has already brought in Ben Barba and Michael Ennis to boost the club’s hopes of climbing the NRL ladder next year.

He said: “With Gerard it is exciting to be adding a player to our roster with his speed and skill, someone who is a Test player and can cover a few different positions for us in the outside backs.

“As for Kyle, he has versatility, can play multiple positions and he gained some valuable experience with Samoa at an international level in the Four Nations. I can see 2015 being be a big year for Kyle.”

Nielsen had struggled to recapture his top form since joining the Warriors, who are 5.00 to win the 2015 Auckland Nines, from Melbourne two years ago.

The 29-year-old was still contracted to the Auckland club for next year, but coach Andrew McFadden has granted him an early release.
