The inconsistent San Jose Sharks will look to build on their shutout over the Anaheim Ducks when they host the St. Louis Blues on Saturday.

Joe Pavelski scored twice and Logan Couture added a third for the visitors to the Honda Center in Anaheim as San Jose snapped a three-game losing streak on Wednesday with the 3-0 win. The Blues followed the Sharks into Southern California on Friday, but couldn’t duplicate San Jose’s victory when they fell 4-3 to the Ducks. Matt Beleskey’s goal midway through the third period was the decider as the 26-year old showed some nice stickhandling to get the better of Martin Brodeur in the St. Louis net.

Tuesday the Blues conclude their west coast swing in Arizona when they face the Coyotes at the Gila River Arena before returning home to host the Sharks at the Scottrade Center later in the week.

St. Louis trails the Chicago Blackhawks by five points in the Central Division entering the day and will be keen to maintain the pressure on the leaders and the Nashville Predators. The Blackhawks fell to the Washington Capitals in the Winter Classic on New Year’s Day and are just 3-3 in their past six outings stretching back to the week before Christmas.

Troy Brouwer’s power play goal with 13 seconds remaining in regulation was the difference in the game played at Nationals Park, the home of baseball’s Washington Nationals.

The Sharks areĀ 17.00 to win the Stanley Cup and the Blackhawks can be backed at 8.00.
