Rugby Union – Wasps quintet ink new deals

Veteran fly-half Jimmy Gopperth is one of five players that have signed new contracts with Wasps. The 35-year-old, who is currently recovering from the anterior cruciate ligament injury he sustained in August, has scored 771 points in 78 appearances for Wasps since joining the club from Newcastle Falcons in 2015. Tommy Taylor, Ashley Johnson, Simon McIntyre and Ben Harris have also signed new deals. "With five experienced players penning new deals it sends out a really positive message to some of our younger players," said Wasps' director of rugby Dai Young. "Both Jimmy and Ashley are fantastic athletes who give absolutely everything, while Si, Tommy and Ben have all been tremendous performers in the front row in recent seasons." Wasps, who have lost four of their last five games, are 25/1 with bet365 to win the Premiership Grand Final this season, while Exeter Chiefs can be backed at 11/8.
