Rugby Union – Eye injury ends Hogg’s tour

Full-back Stuart Hogg has been ruled out of the remainder of the British & Irish Lions tour of New Zealand due to an eye injury. Hogg was injured in a collision with team-mate Conor Murray during the 12-3 win over the Crusaders last weekend and tests have shown damage serious enough to finish his tour prematurely. A disappointed Lions head coach Warren Gatland told reporters: "It is hugely disappointing for Stuart to have to return home early. "Stuart has been a key member of our squad on and off the field and it is disappointing to see injury cut short his time with us in New Zealand. "We all wish him the best with his recovery and we look forward to seeing him back in action." Hogg was widely expected to be the starting full-back for the Lions in the first Test against the All Blacks, which takes place in Auckland on Saturday 24th June. World Cup holders New Zealand are 1/6 with bet365 to win the series outright.
