Rugby Union – Baxter keen to get back on track

Rob Baxter has accepted that a victory for Exeter Chiefs against Ulster this weekend is vital if they are to reach the knockout stages of the European Champions Cup. The Chiefs' director of rugby was stunned by how poorly his team played in the 35-8 loss to Clermont at Sandy Park in their Pool 5 opener but is determined that Exeter's European campaign should not come to a premature end. He said: "If we can get a result in Ulster we're nearly back on par, because we've still got two more home fixtures to come. However, we've then got to snatch something away from home again. "We've got to go to Ulster and confirm a lifeline opportunity." Exeter topped their group last season before being edged out 25-24 by Wasps in the quarter-finals. The Chiefs are 20/1 with bet365 to top Pool 5 this season, while Clermont are available at 1/6.
