Rodgers calm over injury problems

January 16, 2015 06:48:21 UK

Green Bay Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers is confident that he will be able to cope with injury in the NFC Championship clash with the Seattle Seahawks.

Rodgers has been troubled by a problem in his left calf for several weeks, but has managed the injusy successfully and threw for more than 300 yards and three touchdowns in the 26-21 win over the Dallas Cowboys.

I haven’t really caused a whole lot of extra damage to it and hopefully it just keeps getting better until Sunday.

And 31-year-old Californian Rodgers is positive that he will be able to withstand the challenge of the reigning Super Bowl champions at CenturyLink Field on Sunday.

He told reporters: “It’s just a matter of playing within your limits with the injury and I’ve been pretty smart about it.

“I haven’t really caused a whole lot of extra damage to it and hopefully it just keeps getting better until Sunday.”

And Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll expects Rodgers to be fine for the NFC showdown, praising the four-time Pro Bowler in saying: “He’s been a great player for a long time and the great players have a way of figuring it out – how to adapt and get it done and still play.

“That’s part of why they’re great, whatever it is, the resourcefulness, to figure out the situations.”

The Seahawks beat the Packers 36-16 on the opening day of the regular season and are 1.29 to triumph again on Sunday, with Green Bay 3.70 to reach Super Bowl XLIX.
