Rattray relishing Miracle Mile

Trainer James Rattray admits he is struggling to contain his excitement as his superstar pacer Beautide prepares to race in the Miracle Mile.

Beautide is the hot favourite for next Saturday night’s race at Menangle and Rattray is delighted with how the preparations have gone so far.

The last-start Coca-Cola Amatil Sprint winner, who went 1:50.4 to beat Guaranteed by 1.9m, is at the top of his game, according to his trainer.

“I’d say he’s good right now. He doesn’t need much more work between now and the Miracle Mile,” Rattray said.

“We’re very excited.

“We’ve got our fingers crossed than it can stay all good and we can be competitive in all the race we contest.”

Meanwhile, the Sydney trainer will not only campaign Beautide in Victoria over summer but will stable his entire team at Melton.

It is a further boost for the Victorian industry after the news Nicole Molander, trainer of Australasia’s best trotter Keystone Del, would relocate to Victoria full-time from December 20th.

Rattray says he is looking forward to his Victorian stay, pursuing the rich Victorian jewels, the Hunter Cup and Victoria Cup as well as country cups at Ballarat and Bendigo, with Beautide.

“Right now the plan will be to stay in Victoria over summer and then return to New South Wales for the Inter Dominion heats,” Rattray added.

“I’m going to bring the whole team down to Victoria. We’ll have about six to eight in work.”
