Raptors continue road swing

The Toronto Raptors play the fifth game of a six-game road trip on Friday when they visit the Golden State Warriors at the Oracle Arena in Oakland.

It’s the best in the East verses the best of the West in an intriguing match up for the Raptors.

With the Western Conference considered vastly superior to the Eastern, Toronto has given a good account of themselves on the road swing, getting the better of the Los Angeles Clippers at the Staples Center in LA and credibly battling the Trail Blazers before falling in overtime on Tuesday.

Golden State has won two in a row and seven of 10 to maintain a 4.5 game lead over the Clippers in the Pacific Division and are 1.44 to take the divsional title, with the Clippers 2.80 and the Phoenix Suns 34.00.

The Oklahoma City Thunder follow the Raptors into the Bay Area and the Warriors conclude their latest home stand next week with visits from the Indiana Pacers and Cleveland Cavaliers.

LeBron James won’t make that game however as the superstar is out for a couple of weeks through injury.

Thursday the Chicago Bulls bounced back from a surprising defeat to the Brooklyn Nets to get the better of the Denver Nuggets 106-101 at the United Center.

Jimmy Butler, in what is becoming a breakout season for the former Marquette star, dropped in 26 points to lead the hosts with Pau Gasol and Derrick Rose each adding 17 apiece.

With six of their next seven at home, the Bulls will hope to take advantage of LeBron’s absence as they build a lead in the Central Division.
