Radford has faith in youth

Hull FC head coach Lee Radford says he’ll be excited to put his faith in the club’s young players during 2015.

Since being appointed as head coach, Radford has gradually implemented a policy of developing the club’s young players.

And following a series of outstanding performances by several of the club’s youngsters for England Academy this past autumn, there are expectations that they can play a big role for the club in 2015.

“I don’t need to keep their feet on the ground because they are a very level headed group, which is a good thing for us,” explained Radford.

“To have four kids playing in a two-game Test series for England Academy was fantastic, for them and the club.

“Not only that, but Jordan Rankin got player of the series and it is credit to the work the youth set-up is doing.

“It’s pleasing for me thinking about the long-term because that’s what we are trying to promote.”

Radford has recruited half-backs Leon Pryce and Marc Sneyd to his squad ahead of the new campaign, and he believes that his improving batch of youngsters will learn from the new arrivals as well as the rest of the squad’s senior players.

“Many of the young lads have had a good taste of Super League and they want more,” added Radford.

“But they are prepared to work hard to get another chance and that’s great for the staff to see.”

Hull open their Super League campaign in 2015 with a trip to face Huddersfield Giants on 8th February.

Hull FC are priced at 34.00 to win the Super League Grand Final next year, with defending champions St Helens 4.33 and Wigan 3.75.
