New West Bromwich Albion head coach Tony Pulis is relishing working with Saido Berahino, following the striker’s four-goal FA Cup salvo against Gateshead.

The England Under-21 international, who has been strongly linked with a January move away from The Hawthorns, put on a superb display against Gateshead, with his sublime finishing taking his tally for the season to 13 in all competitions.

He looks as though he’s got the potential to be a good player.

And Pulis seems determined to keep the youngster at Albion, as he begins the task of trying to guide his new side away from relegation danger.

He told BBC Sport: “The club has had no offers for Saido Berahino and I’ve had one day’s training with him – I’m looking forward to working with him.

“He can score a goal and he’s got the balance of a very good player. He looks as though he’s got the potential to be a good player.

“The kid is a very talented lad, with great ability and obviously he scores. He looks a very talented boy.”

Having despatched Gateshead with some ease, Albion move on to a crunch clash with Hull City on Saturday 10th January.

West Brom are currently one point outside the bottom three, with the Tigers just one point better off and Albion are 3.50 to be relegated this season, with Hull 3.25 and Queens Park Rangers 2.50.
