Pardew makes Eagles return

Alan Pardew is the man who has been tasked with keeping Crystal Palace in the Premier League having decided to leave Newcastle United.

The 53-year-old has long been linked with a return to the London outfit where he enjoyed a spell as a player, since the sacking of his predecessor Neil Warnock.

Pardew is believed to have put pen to paper on the deal on Friday night and will now face the challenge of keeping the Eagles’ Premier League status.

Palace are on a run of eight games without a win in the top flight and sit one point off safety in 18th place in the table.

Palace caretaker boss Keith Millen confirmed Pardew has been helping with preparations with the squad ahead of their FA Cup battle with Conference side Dover Athletic on Sunday.

Millen said: “Alan has held a staff meeting when he spoke about a number of things.

“He spoke to the players and then we had training.

“We’re preparing for the game on Sunday and I’m sure Alan will be taking the game. He’ll be taking training on Saturday.”

Matters will soon turn back to Premier League matters, when the Eagles host Tottenham Hotspur on 10th January.

Palace are 3.60 to win, 3.50 to draw and 2.00 to lose to Spurs at Selhurst Park.
