Packers and Cowboys clash in Green Bay

Green Bay’s Aaron Rogers.

Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys play their first post-season game at Lambeau Field since the infamous 1967 Ice Bowl championship game this weekend.

Bart Starr would crash over from a couple of yards out to give the Packers the win and a trip to the Super Bowl almost 50 years ago and the Green Bay faithful would be quite happy if Aaron Rodgers could similarly send the Packers on their way.

The Packers areĀ 6.50 to win the Super Bowl and the Cowboys can be backed at 11.00.

The Cowboys arrive in town following their 24-20 defeat of the Detroit Lions in the NFC Wild Card round. A controversial no call of a fairly blatant pass interference took the shine off of the win, but Detroit failed to put away Dallas after building an early lead and paid the price. DeMarco Murray could only muster 75 yards on the ground against a tough Lions’ defense, but that and an error free performance from Tony Romo was enough to send the Cowboys through to meet Green Bay.

Over in Seattle the defending Super Bowl champion Seahawks welcome in the Carolina Panthers to CenturyLink Field. The Panthers got the better of an injury hit Arizona Cardinals side in the Wild Card, but face the prospect of having to beat a Seattle team that went into Charlotte earlier in the season and defeated Carolina at the Bank of America Stadium.

Cam Newton was 12 of 22 for 171 yards with no touchdowns and a pick in the late October game and the former Auburn signal caller must be much better if the Panthers are to have a realistic chance of the upset.
