Ohio State welcomes in Indiana

The Ohio State Buckeyes will go in search of a ninth consecutive victory on Saturday when they entertain the Hoosiers of Indiana at Ohio Stadium in Columbus.

Fifth in the nation is points scored and ranked seventh in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll, the Buckeyes still can’t shake their early season loss to a terrible Virginia Tech side.

No other one-loss side in the rankings, up to and including Colorado State, has such a poor defeat and it would take a peculiar set of circumstances for Ohio State to receive any kind of consideration for the college football playoff.

A win over Missouri earlier in the season implies that Indiana can rise to the occasion, but a five-game losing streak to Iowa, Michigan State, Michigan, Penn State and Rutgers is more indicative of the Hoosiers current level of play.

The Buckeyes will do well to not look past Indiana to their regular season finale against the Wolverines, but Ohio State remains the presumptive Big Ten East Division representative in the Conference championship game in Indianapolis.

Two places below the Buckeyes the Bulldogs of Georgia jumped seven places into the top 10 following their defeat of Auburn over the weekend.

Suspended running back Todd Gurley returned for Georgia, but was lost for the rest of the season through injury as the Bulldogs push for the SEC East Division crown.

Missouri continues to have the inside track, but must not lose against Tennessee or Arkansas after avoiding a defeat against Texas A & M over the weekend.

Ohio State are 8.00 to win the NCAAF title.
