Next stop Cheltenham for Parlour Games

Parlour Games is set to head to the Cheltenham Festival in March.

Parlour Games is likely to be next seen at the Cheltenham Festival in March after he landed the Grade One Challow Hurdle at Newbury on Monday.

Trainer John Ferguson felt Parlour Games had been underestimated leading into his Newbury success in light of the convincing defeat he gave to the heavily fancied Blaklion at Cheltenham in November.

Ryan Hatch set the pace on Blaklion in an attempt to make it a true stamina test over the 2m 5f trip but it was Parlour Games and Nicky Henderson’s Vyta Du Roc that fought out a thrilling finish.

King George-winning jockey Noel Fehily continued his hot streak to prevail by a neck and Ferguson admitted his surprise at the starting prices.

“I did find it quite interesting that he went off at the price he did after beating Blaklion four and a half lengths on that (Cheltenham) occasion,” Ferguson said.

Parlour Games is currently 13.00¬†in the market for the Neptune Investment Novices’ Hurdle, while¬†Douvan can be backed at 11.00, and his trainer says he may not run again before March.

He added: “He’s a gorgeous horse to have around and is bred like he’s in the royal family. That was the first time Noel had sat on him, and he was impressed.”

“I don’t think he needs to run again before Cheltenham,” Ferguson added.
