Steve Bruce has revealed Newcastle’s trip to Bournemouth has necessitated two airports to remain open beyond their normal lockdown hours, a larger plane than usual being hired and a hotel to be closed to the public, allowing the team to stay.

Newcastle’s manager thanked the small army responsible for facilitating the quickest and most comfortable journey possible to and from Wednesday’s key Premier League game. A complex logistical chain including air traffic controllers, administrators, airport ground staff, cabin crew, pilots, chefs, cleaners and hotel workers has made it possible.
