Four-year-old Mister Livan gets his chance for a return to the winners’ list when contesting Friday night’s Quality Pace (2190m) from a mobile start at Victorian course Shepparton.

The Dean Braun-trained gelding, to be driven by top reinsman Chris Alford, impressed when he was successful early this year at his first two starts after a spell.

Mister Livan dead-heated for first over 2160 metres at Hamilton on 29th January. He won outright when racing second-up on 9th February over 2180 metres at Terang and then was a Maryborough 2190-metre runner-up on 26th February. The gelding can improve on his fourth over 2180 metres at Kilmore last week.

Alford has also been booked to drive last year’s Bendigo winner Dizzyontheinterest when she resumes from a spell and competes first-up in Friday night’s second heat of a Speed Series (1690m) at Shepparton. The four-year-old, trained by David Aiken, ended her last campaign with a second over 1690 metres at Maryborough on 12th July. She appears to have a have a bright future for Aiken, who is training a strong team.

Five-year-old Manuka Man, who led and won over 1650 metres at Bendigo last week, will be in Iine for a second consecutive victory when starting at Shepparton on Friday night. Michael Bellman will drive the Vince Vallelonga-trained gelding in the Country Series Final (1690m).

Manuka Man has won twice and run three seconds in his past five races. Seconds at Terang, Ballarat and Menangle followed his Hamilton win in January.

Three-year-old Charming Allie will attempt her seventh win in eight starts when tackling Friday’s Meteor Pace (1660m) at Brisbane’s Albion Park. The filly, trained and driven by Grant Dixon, has not raced since winning the $80,000 Queensland-bred Final (1660m) at Albion Park eight months ago. She had won in Queensland at five of her previous six starts.
