Martinez braced for West Ham battle

Everton boss Roberto Martinez has been full of praise for West Ham as the two sides prepare to meet at Goodison Park in the Premier League on Saturday.

The Hammers have been one of the surprise packages in the top flight this season and currently sit in fourth place in the table after 11 games.

Everton, who made a slugglish start to the campaign, sit four points behind West Ham in the table going into the clash this weekend on Merseyside.

Martinez has been impressed with what he has seen from manager Sam Allardyce and his men so far and knows his side will be tested on Saturday.

He said: “West Ham have been the most consistent team in the Premier League and it wasn’t by accident.

“The way they play is very brave – they’ve a lot of attackers. It’ll be one of our the biggest challenges.

“It is still early days but we still have four teams challenging for the title and eight teams looking for Europe.

“West Ham are one of the big challengers for those places without a doubt.”

Everton are 1.80 to win, 3.75 to draw and 4.20 to lose to the Hammers.
