Trainer Kari Males says Bellas Delight is in top form as she pursues a hat-trick of victories in the Norms Daughter Classic (1730m) at Gloucester Park on Friday night.

Males has also confirmed that the Melbourne Group 1 winner will contest the Mares’ Classic over 2130m next week.

“Bellas Delight travelled as good as gold,” Males said. “She’s thriving and is ready to show peak form. Zac Phillips will be over from Melbourne to drive her this week.”

Males said that while Phillips will take the reins tomorrow night, Greg Sugars, who had driven Bellas Delight in 13 wins, would be her Mares’ Classic reinsman.

Bellas Delight won the Group 1 Australasian Breeders’ Crown Final (2240m) at Melton and will be hoping to add to that while in Western Australia.

“She had ligament surgery after her last campaign,” Males added. “She’s returned to her best in four starts since a spell.”

Regularly competing against quality opposition in a 49-start career, her tally is 18 wins and 14 places.

Bellas Delight went off as favourite when rating 1:54.3 over 1720m last Friday week.

“She will have only two Perth starts,” Males said. “Then she’ll resume in Victoria on a cups campaign.”
