Barcelona 4-0 Getafe

• Dynamic return from injury features two goals in 27 minutes
• Performance helps Barcelona to 4-0 cup win over Getafe

Lionel Messi marked his long-awaited return from injury with two late goals from the substitutes' bench as Barcelona recorded a 4-0 home win over Getafe in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday.

Messi, who returned to Barca after completing the last stage of his recovery from a thigh operation in his native Argentina, replaced Andrés Iniesta in the 64th minute, just after the midfielder Cesc Fábregas had scored his second of the night from the penalty spot.

Messi had almost set up Pedro shortly after his arrival on the pitch, and soon found the back of the net himself when he pounced on a loose ball from the Getafe goalkeeper, Jordi Codina, who had parried a Martin Montoya shot.

The returning striker then added his second in the third minute of stoppage time after he had raced on to the end of an Alex Song through-ball.

Fábregas, who had opened the scoring with an eighth-minute header before putting away the second from the spot in the 63rd minute, had already been given the man of the match award before Messi's late double.
