Leeds to appoint Thomas Christiansen, former Spain striker, as head coach

• Denmark-born 44-year-old will replace Garry Monk at Leeds
• Christiansen has coached AEK Larnaca and Apoel Nicosia in Cyprus

Leeds United have reached agreement with Thomas Christiansen for the 44-year-old to become their head coach, it is understood. The former Apoel Nicosia manager is set to be installed as a replacement for Garry Monk, who resigned last month, within 24 hours.

Christiansen, a Denmark-born former Spain striker, steered Apoel to the last 16 of the Europa League and to the Cypriot first division title last season but was released on the day Monk departed Elland Road. He has also coached AEK Larnaca in Cyprus.
