Kvyat ready for Red Bull challenge

Red Bull new boy Daniil Kvyat is determined to make a major impression in 2015 and challenge Daniel Ricciardo for the leadership of the team.

Kvyat has been handed the chance to succeed four-time world champion Sebastian Vettel at Red Bull next year and is eager to make as big a mark as Ricciardo did this season, having made the same step up from Toro Rosso.

The 20-year-old Russian told Autosport: “I will be at Red Bull not to watch him (Daniel) do well, but to do my best and be in front of him and everybody; that’s how it’s going to be.

“I wouldn’t go there if I was scared. I know what he can do, but I will also do my best and my best isn’t that bad.

“I feel absolutely ready. It’s a challenge, but it’s an opportunity as well.

“It’s never going to be easy for anyone and I am aware of this, but everyone started from where I started. I have to have confidence as there is no point doing it otherwise.”

Kvyat secured just eight points for Toro Rosso in 2014, while Ricciardo was the only man to break the dominance of Mercedes, winning in Canada, Hungary and Belgium.

Ricciardo can be backed at 21.00 to be crowned world champion in 2015, with Lewis Hamilton 1.66 and Nico Rosberg 3.00.
