Kvitova motivated for further glory

Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova is eager to add to her Grand Slam titles tally in 2015, starting at the Australian Open in Melbourne.

The 24-year-old Czech left-hander goes into the first major of the year in fine form after winning the Sydney International warm-up tournament, while Kvitova is also confident that her hopes are being boosted by a new fitness trainer.

Of course it’s one of my goals to win another Grand Slam.

She told The Guardian ahead of kicking off her campaign for glory against Richel Hogenkamp of the Netherlands: “I am in good form. I hope the confidence I had in the past few matches will pay off here.”

Kvitova, who reached the semi-finals in Australia in 2012, but who has since won just one match in Melbourne, is eager to add to her two Wimbledon successes and would prefer to prove herself away from the grass of SW19.

She added: “Of course it’s one of my goals to win another Grand Slam.

“Wimbledon was great – so if it’s Wimbledon again, that’s fine – but I think I have the game to win the other Grand Slams as well.

“It’s not like I never win tournaments on hard courts or clay. I want it and I think in my mind, I can play well. It’s something I need to show on the court, not just in the smaller tournaments.”

Kvitova is available at 3.00 to reach the semi-finals in Australia and is 11.00 to lose in the final, while the leftie can be backed at 11.00 to clinch a third career Grand Slam title.
