Kirsten Wild takes RideLondon Classique with clinical surge
• Wild wins £21,000 in richest purse in women’s cycling for one-day race• Nina Kessler finished second, Leah Kirchmann third
Holland’s Kirsten Wild won the RideLondon Classique to claim the biggest women’s cycling purse for a one-day race. The 33-year-old, who rides for the Hitec Products team, produced a clinical finish to finish first in 1hr 28min 13sec on the streets of the capital.
Wild’s prize €25,000 (£21,110). The total prize money stood at €100,000 (£84,438), making it the richest race in the history of women’s cycling.
