Kenny McDowall tenders resignation from Rangers caretaker manager role

• McDowall cites personal reasons for leaving the Glasgow club
• Club announce caretaker manager will serve 12-month notice
• Rangers board will fight Dave King but may have to mortgage Ibrox

Kenny McDowall has tendered his resignation as caretaker manager of Rangers for “personal reasons”, the club have announced.

The Glasgow club announced McDowall will serve a 12-month notice period under the terms of his contract, as his predecessor Ally McCoist was due to do. McCoist stood down on 21 December and was initially placed on gardening leave.
