Kelly hails Pardew leadership role

January 18, 2015 15:24:09 UK

Alan Pardew has won three out of three so far as manager of Crystal Palace.

Crystal Palace defender Martin Kelly has hailed the influence of new boss Alan Pardew, saying that his leadership and experience has contributed to their recent upturn in form.

Palace came from 2-0 down to beat Burnley 3-2 at Turf Moor on Saturday, notching up their third successive win in the process, albeit one of these was against Dover in the third round of the FA Cup.

Since sacking former manager Neil Warnock in late December after he had only won one match out of 14, Palace have drawn two and won three, the latter trio since Pardew was appointed as the new boss.

Speaking after the win against Burnley, Kelly admitted that Pardew’s presence has been key to their recent success.

He said: “Alan has brought great experience to the club and it is that little push that the club and us players needed around us.

“We needed that key figure and he has brought that and what he has done in the couple of weeks he has been with us has been brilliant.

“We are all enjoying our training, tactically we know what we are doing and we are showing that in games with the confidence we have got.

“The two draws were key to confidence before Alan came in and the three wins we have under him now is showing in our play we have the confidence and it is a great dressing room to be in.”

The victory saw Palace jump up to 12th in the Premier League table, four points above the drop zone. They are 1.18 not to be relegated this season, while they are 5.50 to go down.

They will be hoping to continue their recent good form when they travel to St Mary’s to face Southampton in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Saturday. They are 5.50 to win the game, 1.57 to lose and 4.00 to secure a replay.
