Jovetic looks forward to Aguero return

January 07, 2015 13:01:17 UK

Manchester City striker Stevan Jovetic is relishing the return from injury of team-mate Sergio Aguero, who is back in training after a knee ligament problem.

The Argentinian has been out of action since early December after being injured early on in a 1-0 win over Everton and had been expected to be sidelined for around two months.

It’s been said many times lately, but he is one of the best players in the world.

However, he has returned to the training pitch in just over a month and could be back in the fold quicker than expected, with some reports suggesting that he could even feature against the Toffees this weekend.

And Jovetic would love to see Aguero back in a City shirt, with the South American having scored 19 times in all competitions already this season, despite his injury problems.

“Sergio was in the form of his life when he damaged his knee against Everton and it’s such a pity that he picked up his injury when he did,” Jovetic told The Mirror.

“It’s been said many times lately, but he is one of the best players in the world and we all hope he will be back very soon – Edin (Dzeko) too. It’s a pleasure to play alongside him.

“Of course, it is difficult with Edin and Sergio injured, but we have a fantastic team.”

Dzeko may also be involved against the Toffees at Goodison Park on Saturday, with the Bosnian having trained all week after shrugging off a calf problem.

The Citizens are 1.85 to take all three points on Merseyside and are 2.75 to keep a clean sheet, while City are available at 2.62 to retain their Premier League title this season.
