Jets keep up the pressure

Winnipeg Jets’ Andrew Ladd.

The Winnipeg Jets moved to within a couple of points of the Blackhawks and the St Louis Blues on Friday after a 4-2 win at the United Center in Chicago.

Zach Bogosian, Bryan Little, Chris Thorburn and Andrew Ladd were all on target for the visitors, the latter into an empty net in the final minute, as the Jets picked up a third consecutive victory to apply the pressure in the Division.

Winnipeg, who return home on Sunday to entertain the Arizona Coyotes at the MST Centre, also continue to increase their advantage over the Los Angeles Kings and Calgary Flames from the Pacific Division as the three sides battle for two wildcards in the Western Conference.

Then again maybe it will be battling San Jose and Vancouver as the Sharks, Canucks, Kings and Flames continue to switch places in a highly competitive Division.

On Friday Vancouver continued their five-game road trip with a 3-0 defeat of the Carolina Hurricanes at the PNC Arena in Raleigh. Ryan Miller recorded his second consecutive shut-out after beating the Philadelphia Flyers 4-0 on Thursday and Derek Dorsett, Shawn Matthias and Alex Burrows all lit the lamp for the visitors as the Canucks eased to victory.

Back on the west coast the Sharks welcome in the Calgary Flames to the SAP Center in San Jose for the second game of a seven-game home stand. The Sharks continue to baffle with no discernable form other than the ability to win or lose on any given night without rhyme or reason.

The Jets are 41.00 to win the Stanley Cup outright, while the Blackhawks can be backed at 8.50.
